Wonderful trip to Cache Valley, Saturday February 17, 2024

Image
On Saturday, February 17, we had a great trip to Cache Valley.  Becky liked the four quilts I had finished for her project at the Birth Center in Las Vegas!  We finally got to take Sophie out to lunch. All the other days we have invited her - she was working.  We invited Eli also but he had a conflict. As we were driving into town, Eli texted and said his appointment was cancelled, was the invite still good?  Of course!  Any time spend with grandchildren is delightful!! He said he would meet us at the restaurant because he was giving plasma! We went to Zupa's on Center Street and 7th North.  Neither of them had ever been there before.  We like the fresh food and free roll and strawberry!  It was fun to catch up with their lives and hear about their classes.  Both felt like they had done well in their mid-terms. After lunch we went to Hyde Park and visited with James and Kimberly Tippetts.  They have been our mentors and leaders in ...

Elder Ron and Sister Carolyn Sims hosted a Africa South Area Office retuned missionaries party. It was January 31, mid week - no BYU or U of U basketball games!  It was at the clubhouse near their condo in Vineyard, Orem area.  They provided soup and toppings and everyone else brought salad, appetizers or dessert.  Here Sister Sims is in the red sweater, Sister Forsyth in black.   Elder and Sister Watson slicing the best bread he made!  See all the good food?  We had wonderful parties in South Africa and now we will here! Elder Perkins, Swift and Forsyth in the background - Sister Richman at the side.  All wonderful friends.  Sister Patti Perkins - she and her husband Dennis, or on their way to Brisbane, Australia on another mission.  They entered the MTC this week.  Sister Karen Cleverly and Sister Debbie Goodson are talking with Sister Perkins.  Elder Elgreen in the back left - his wife was ill and was very disappointe...

Hyrum - Helping Kate and Ben January 27, 2024

Image
On Saturday, January 27, we drove to Logan, got some things from my Sister Becky and then headed to Hyrum to join the work crews on the houses.  Here Kate and Harold are bringing one of the bigger boards to their site.   Ben and Kate bringing another big board.  On certain Saturdays, someone in the work crew bring the basics for a lunch.  Kate and I brought baked potatoes.  The other crew members had signed up for toppings.  I borrowed Lindsey's big roaster oven and we plugged it into the green pedestal between our car and her house!   We used a pile of plywood for a table and put the tablecloth were most of the food was.  See the other houses in the background?  Everyone works on everyone else's!  Nice view of the mountains!! It is a lot of work - but so exciting to know it is your house and your neighbors you are building. We come as often as we can - when there is not a snow storm predicated!  And not too cold....

Olivia had a main role in the junior high musical this year.  She was Principal Clark in Footloose. She did great!  We watched the opening show on Jan. 25, and the closing on Jan. 27.  The director is an amazing teacher - she had two full casts and each did three shows!   Steve and Linda Kirkham were our guests at the Thursday show.  He is Harold's ministering partner and Olivia and I are Linda's ministering sisters!  Everyone had a good time.  Three YW from the ward were in this Chicago Cast - and the YW made coming their activity for this week!   Olivia - Musical Star!!! Olivia had Polly go with her to DI and find some 1980's clothes!  On Monday, February 5, South Davis Drama dept. held their annual Toni Junior Awards.  Here is beautiful Olivia under the VIP arch!!   Olivia getting her award form her Director - we were taking care of the three boys so we didn't go. Lindsey took these great pictures.  Ree...

Lindsey sent me this picture of Pretty Millie with her doll dressed in the dress I made with the left over fabric from the Sound of Music costumes.  It made my heart happy!   Harold and I have invited other senior citizens and empty nesters to our home on two Mondays a month to have a study group with the Come Follow Me lessons on the Book of Mormon.  Only five have come so far but others have expressed an interest!  I love it!   Polly made all the Fairbanks boys darling pillowcases of their favority cartoon characters.  This is Zain's with Bluey and Bingo - he saw it and said: Wow - I luv it!!   Polly and Chris brought five puppies to visit Bountiful - Reid was so excited to have them go to his Pre-school - both morning and afternoon sessions;   On January 17, Heidi stopped for lunch with us in Bountiful.  She had been in Utah for a few days on her way from CA to WA.  It was super fun to have three daughters t...
